... I personally think that the Bulloch County law enforcement and the Bulloch County judicial system ... is kind of getting out of their way just to put people that have may have made one mistake in their life, they put 'em away for a year. But then there's drug dealers and all kinds of people walking free in the streets of Statesboro takin' money that doesn't need to be taken ... from people that choose to do drugs instead of take care of their family. But someone that's tryin' to take care of their family and may not do what he was exactly supposed to, get sent off for a year or two to be away from his family and children. ... I think that's just personally messed up and I'm sure a lot of people in Statesboro should agree with me. Thank you. Bye!
... I am calling about a stolen ... pink beach cruiser. If anyone ... were to see this bike, please contact ... Statesboro Police Department. Thank you.
This helps to explain the incompetence of this administration in Washington. Only 8 percent of them have ever worked in private business and had a real job. ... That's right. Only 8 percent. ... The least, by far, of the last 19 presidents. ... Even Bill Clinton had 30 percent. ... And even George Bush had 50 percent. ... So these ... 92 percent of senior staff and close advisors in the current administration are trying to tell us ... how to run this country - or sh ... or should I say ruin it - and only 92 percent of them ... can say all they've ever had ... is community organizer, non-profit jobs or government jobs. We need to put them in the unemployment line.
We're continually told that charter schools are so much better than public schools because they're not held to the same level of regulations ... and requirements as public schools. If that's the case, why doesn't government list these same regulations and requirements from public schools? And that way, they will be on an even playing field. Instead of creating this whole new level of bureaucracy of schools, which require ... the charter school to have their own principals, their own buildings ... and now their own funding, which is taken away from already strapped ... state of Georgia. ... It doesn't make any sense. If the rules are the problem with public education ... why don't you ... get rid of some of them instead of creatin' this whole 'nother set of schools? ... It makes no sense at all.
The city and the county act just like the federal government, even in the midst of a recession. ... They, too, can only think of getting more tax revenue and spending more on their grand plans. ... It seems they never think of the taxpayers.
I'm so glad Governor Deal gave the charter schools $10 million. I guess that means the taxpayers ... won't have to pay it, since he is giving it to the charter schools. ... I think that's wonderful!
I'm so glad the local officials agree on the penny tax spendin'. ... Seems to me, they're countin' their chickens before the eggs hatch. ... I, for one, am not giving them another penny. ... The way they have been ... wasting money ... they don't need ... a penny from anybody. ... I'm gon' use my penny, but they're not going to.
I'd like to know how Governor Deal can afford ... to give all that money to a charter schools ... and let ... our real schools ... suffer ... for ... for lack of the HOPE scholarship funds anymore ... or at least reduced. That's just wrong. Let 'em go to a school like everybody else ... and go to a real school.
Can someone please tell me where Governor Deal can find $10 million to split ... among eight charter schools? ... It's particularly our local one that has 140 students and yet, those of us in Bulloch County with student populations of four, five and 600 are steadily being cut. ... It makes no sense to me. I doubt this will be printed since our paper seems to be so pro charter schools. ... They are not ... the answer ... particularly the way the one here in Bulloch County is run. It is more like a private school.
Charter schools are nuthin' more than private schools funded by taxpayers' money ... no accounting to the taxpayers. ... Have you ever seen a budget posted in the newspaper ... for our charter school? Thank you.
... It was my understanding ... that ... something was to come out in the paper ... about ... our city payin' out the large amounts of money ... to people that had worked for the city at different times. ... I haven't ... seen that in the paper as yet, if someone would ... let me know if it's been in there ... or if we need to ask for it to be printed again. Thank you."
"Before I pay a bill, I always know ... what the bill is for. ... The city of Statesboro has used ... our tax dollars to pay large amon ... amounts of funds ... for different things with the city and the county. ... They should send ... a tax bill ... to each ... property ... taxpayer in the county ... and in the city ... to let them know ... what our funds ... that we pay in as taxes are going for.
... The city and the county is beginnin' to sound like our federal guv'ment. ... They just pay and spend whatever they want to ... and then try to raise taxes ... to take care of their funds. Until the city can show what taxes are going for, I don't think ... that we need to pay any more. ... They need to print this. ... My bank sends me a statement ... every quarter ... on what they've paid out of ... stock funds. I feel like that my tax dollar ... should be ... treated ... just like a sto ... a ... a stock fund should.
