"In response to a Soundoff that was in the paper the other day: why should anybody get free health care? I've been payin' for mine for the last 40-some odd years. So everyone should pay for their health care. And nobody is gonna be forced to get it or go to jail. Why don't you read things and look it up on the Internet before you make a decision?"

"To Mr. Cone in the Sunday paper: you might want to read the Constitution a little better. The government cannot ... pick a religion. It does not say that the government cannot allow religion to be ... exhibited on the property owned by the public."

"New Year's is coming. Drunk drivers, please stop. You're tarnishing my reputation as a good alcoholic. I love to drink, but stay at home. Try it. You'll like it. Happy New Year's."

"It would be very helpful if the city of Statesboro would update the garbage collection schedule for the holidays on their web site. The holiday collection notice on there now is from September 2008."

"Why ... why do you, the paper, publish the obituary and then write the same thing in an article on the front page? I guess every citizen will get front page coverage from now on. Please don't be selective."
