Statesboro police are investigating an incident in the Walmart parking lot where witnesses said a shot was fired during a fight Sunday afternoon.
Cpl. Justin Samples with the Statesboro PD said a 911 call came in at 2:15 p.m. Sunday reporting the incident. Samples said a group of people was arguing in the parking lot and a fight broke out. During the fight, a man pulled a gun and fired a shot into the air, he said.
Samples said no one was struck by the shot and no one was injured in the fight.
A witness driving by Walmart after the incident said a section of the parking lot was cordoned off with yellow tape. The tape was removed by 4 p.m.
"We are interviewing witnesses and subjects involved at the police department now," Samples said.
No arrests have been made and police ask anyone with information to call (912) 764-9111. All calls will be kept confidential.
