The public is invited to a Memorial Day community observance Monday at the Emma Kelly Theater in Statesboro’s Averitt Center for the Arts.The program begins at 10:30 a.m. with entertainment by Bill Cohen of First Baptist Church, said Dan Foglio, master of ceremonies, event organizer and past commander of the Dexter Allen American Legion Post 90, which hosts the event.Following presentations by state Sen. Jack Hill, R-Reidsville; Daughters of the American Revolution Regent Jan Anderson; Judge William Josiah Neville; and others, guests will hear from the keynote speaker, Lt. Col. William Roberts, the scholarship and enrollment officer for the Eagle Battalion, Georgia Southern University’s ROTC unit.Other features of the event include intonement of names of veterans from Bulloch County who lost their lives in past wars, a presentation by Statesboro City Councilman Phil Boyum and a poem written by a Georgia Southern University student specifically for the occasion, Foglio said.Statesboro Municipal Judge W.
