Police report - 1-16-15; A woman was arrested after shoplifting a tub mat and nursery room organizer

    EAGLE INN — A woman told police around 2 p.m. Wednesday that a man called her cellphone seven times asking for money. She said she would not lend him any more money, reports state.
    SOUTH MAIN STREET — A man told police he found a backpack filled with clothing, feminine items and a hair straightening iron Wednesday around 10:30 p.m.
    WAL-MART SUPERCENTER — (Northside Drive East) A woman was arrested around 11 p.m. Wednesday after shoplifting a tub mat and nursery room organizer. She went through a self-checkout station and paid for some items, but did not pay for the others.
    GORDON STREET — Police responded around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday to a reported argument between two sisters. Their mother was struck in the face as she tried to break them up, and her face showed visible swelling. Officers gave them information about taking out warrants, but made no arrests.

    POJO’s — (U.S. Highway 80 East) A deputy on patrol walked into the store for a security check around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, and the clerk told him a man had just shoplifted a beer. The deputy found the offender outside and arrested him after the store owner, who had no idea at the time about the shoplifting, told the deputy he saw that the offender had tossed a can of beer into some bushes.

    Officers issued six traffic citations Wednesday.

    Officers issued two traffic warnings and assisted two motorists Wednesday.
