Bulloch County Animal Services is inviting folks to “Jump into Joy” and meet pets looking for homes during “Petco Love’s” national pet adoption event this weekend – Nov. 7-8.

The animal shelter at 81 Mill Creek Road in Statesboro will be open noon-3 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday for area residents to select a dog or cat.

National nonprofit organization Petco Love is partnering with Warner Bros. Pictures Animation as part of a national pet adoption campaign featuring characters from the new full-length animated film “The Cat in the Hat.” The movie opens Friday at the AMC Statesboro 12 theater.

According to a release from Petco, the event encourages people to discover the joy of bringing a pet into their lives through adoption from local shelters and rescues like Bulloch County Animal Services.

Bulloch County Animal Services will have all of their adoptable pets available at the shelter, including several kittens.

The adoption fee is $50 for a dog and $30 for a cat. Adopters need a valid state ID and must be at least 18 years old. All adopted pets come up to date on vaccines and spayed/neutered, if not spayed/neutered then they come with a voucher to get spayed/neutered for free.

“We encourage our community to visit our shelter, open their hearts and discover the unconditional love and happiness that come from adopting a shelter pet,” said Dana Armel with the Bulloch County Animal Services team. “You may come looking for a new companion, but you might just leave with a new family who changes your life forever.”

Petco Love has helped find homes for more than 7.2 million pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 animal welfare partner organizations nationwide including in Bulloch County.

Since 1999, Petco Love has invested more than $442 million in adoption and other animal lifesaving efforts.
