To accommodate a growing community need and safely serve more than 1,000 families each week, the Food Bank announced a new on-site traffic pattern effective immediately.
The redesigned flow, which now accommodates two lines, ensures a quicker pick-up experience for clients, Executive Director, Sheila Stewart-Leach said in a release from the Food Bank.
“This new routing allows staff and volunteers to operate in dedicated, pedestrian-safe zones,” she said
Key changes for meal box clients:
- New entrance: All traffic for meal box pick-up must now enter via Parrish Street, behind the Food Bank building.
- Designated queuing: Vehicles will be directed in one or two lines, depending on traffic.
- Stay in your car: Your meal box will be delivered to your car.
- Exit only: Departure will strictly occur onto Miller Street.
- On-site guidance: Directional signage and volunteer traffic marshals are on-site to assist drivers throughout the transition.
"Serving over 1,000 families every single week requires precision, care and, above all, safety," Stewart-Leach said. "The new traffic plan is built to handle our expanded volume smoothly, making the experience quicker and safer for our neighbors receiving support, our volunteers, and the surrounding community.
"Clients eating lunch at the Sunshine Café may still enter off Miller Street and come in the front doors. However, if they are picking up a meal box after lunch, they need to exit left from the parking lot, turn left at the stop sign onto Parrish Street, and left into the pick-up line at the rear of the building. The side parking lot is now one way only."
