The Statesboro Blue Devil football team is 6-3 and are coming off a 31-21 victory Friday against Jenkins and a 36-35 victory in the last seconds at Evans. Head coach Matt Dobson said defensive back Keyshawn Polk has been key all season and helped win the Evans tilt with the game-ending interception.

“He gives us a great athlete,” Dobson said. “In the secondary on defense he gives us speed that we really haven’t had. On special teams he’s already returned a couple of kicks for touchdowns.

“We even used him recently on offense. He had two carries for 15 yards in our last game. He’s fast and physical and a really good teammate. I’m glad we have him on the team.”

“I feel like I have fit in on the team really well,” Polk said. “I try and play hard and do whatever the coaches need me to do. I think on defense we have been a little up and down but I think we have some good players and we are ready to try and win Friday and get into the postseason.”
