Ogeechee Technical College kicked off summer quarter Tuesday with a record setting number of students.
According to Ryan Foley, OTC’s vice-president for Student Affairs, summer quarter typically sees the smallest number of students in classes, but in keeping with a trend which began over a year ago, more students are enrolling in Ogeechee Tech than ever before.
“A few years ago we were stretching to reach 2,000 students for fall quarter, which is typically our largest quarter, but now we are seeing that many students here for Summer quarter,” Foley said.
As of Monday evening, just over 2,200 students had been registered for summer quarter, according to Foley.
“It typically takes a week or so to get a final count for the quarter.  Some students have financial aid issues to work out, others decide to come to school at the last minute, and some may register and then decide not to attend this quarter," Foley said.  "Our number will fluctuate up and down as students’ issues are resolved over the next week,”
“This is an exciting time for Ogeechee Tech.  Our growth in the number of students served means that we have the chance to positively impact that many more lives,” said OTC President Dr. Dawn Cartee.  “After all, the students are why we are here, and the more we serve, the more we fulfill our mission.”
