Statesboro Police are questioning several  "persons of interest" regarding a shooting incident Friday night on Best Street that left two victims hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
One man is already behind bars. Curtis Marco Evans, 21, May Circle, Millen, was arrested in connection with the shooting, said Statesboro Police Det. Terry Briley, who is investigating the incident.
A 20-year-old male victim suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach and was released after admission and treatment at East Georgia Regional Medical Center, he said.
The second victim, a 29-year-old man, remains hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the leg. "The leg wound is pretty severe – worse than the stomach wound,"  Briley said.
The shooting stemmed from an argument that took place earlier Friday, he said. He did not release details of the argument, citing the fact that the case remains under investigation.
Briley said he and other officers were questioning "several persons of interest" Monday regarding the incident who could "either be suspects or witnesses." Further arrests are expected, he said.
Evans was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and giving false information, according to records from the Bulloch County Jail.
He is being held without bond.
