The East Main Street portion of downtown Statesboro was blocked Thursday morning after multiple fire trucks from the Statesboro Bulloch County Fire Department converged on the Preetorius Building when smoke and fire was detected.
No injuries were reported, but three tower fire trucks and more than a dozen firefighters responded to the scene at 35-37 East Main Street shortly after 9 a.m. While no visible fire damage could be seen from the outside of the building, the smell of smoke permeated all of the downtown area.
East Main Street was still closed as of 10:15 a.m. this morning.
