A man who has been missing since Wednesday from a personal care home "walked away voluntarily," and Bulloch County sheriff's investigators say they are seeking to find him for "his own safety."

Sheriff Lynn Anderson said Jasper Mikell, 63, stands 5 feet 11 inches and weighs around 165 pounds. He was reported missing by staff at Southern Comfort Personal Care Home on Pulaski Road near the Candler County line, he said. Staff did not say what Mikell was wearing at the time he went missing.

Mikell previously lived at a Groover Hill Road, with an Ellabell address.

The personal care home is near a creek that runs along the Bulloch/Candler county line. Mikell uses a cane and might have one with him, Anderson said.

Anyone with information or who may have spotted Mikell is asked to contact the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office dispatch at (912) 764-1771 or send anonymous information to tips@bullochsheriff.com.
