After a woman told Bulloch County Sheriff’s investigators a man she knew sexually assaulted her Saturday, the suspect turned himself in to authorities, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson.
Deputies responded to a call in the 8000 block of U.S. 301 South Saturday, and spoke with the adult female victim who said Scott Alan Robinson, 46, U.S. 301 South, had sexually assaulted her.
During interviews, the woman said “she has been sexually assaulted by a male subject known to her,” Anderson said.
Further questioning revealed the attack had occurred in part in the presence of the woman’s juvenile daughter, who “witnessed a portion of the assault,” he said.
The victim was treated and medically screened, which included the use of a sexual assault examination kit “to collect potential evidence,” he said.
Robinson was not located in the vicinity at the time, in spite of an “intensive search” by investigators. However, Robinson turned himself in Monday and was booked into the Bulloch County Jail on charges of rape and aggravated assault, he said.
Robinson is being held without bond.
Anderson did not provide additional information about the assault, and the investigation is ongoing.
“Anyone with further information on this case is asked to contact Inv. Jared Akins,” he said. Akins maybe reached by phone at (912) 764-1789 or tips may be anonymously submitted at “firstname.lastname@example.org.”
