A truck driver waits on a bridge on Pulaski Highway while rescue workers clean up after his vehicle over turned and slid across the bridge Tuesday afternoon, spilling lumber and diesel fuel. The road remained closed to all traffic while cleanup continued.
A bridge on Pulaski Highway will be closed today for repairs after an 18-wheeler flipped over and destroyed part of  the bridge's railings. Georgia State Patrol Trooper First-Class Blake Hendrix said driver Jeffrey Moore, 30, Santee, SC was driving east Tuesday afternoon around 2:45 p.m. , approaching the bridge near Brannen Lake Road, when he ran off the road and struck the bridge embankment. The tractor-trailer rig, carrying a load of small pieces of wood, overturned, scattering wood and vehicle parts across the roadway. The Georgia Department of Transportation ordered the bridge closed for clean up and repairs Tuesday evening through today. Moore, who was not injured, is charged with failure to maintain lane, Hendrix said.
