Man forges check to buy truck
A man stole a check and used it to buy a truck, police said. Statesboro Police Det. Ken Scott investigated a report by a man who said Lenard Jock Kee Raymond, 19, T. Perkins Road, took checks from him and forged one at G. M. Auto Sales on Northside Drive East to buy a 1990 Sierra. Raymond was located by Bulloch County Sheriff's Deputy J. Billings the next day in Kmart parking lot driving the vehicle. Billings notified Scott, who arrived at the scene and charged Raymond with first degree forgery and felony theft by deception, said Statesboro Police Capt. L. C. Williams.
Goody's employee charged with shoplifting
An employee of Goody's at the Statesboro Mall was charged Tuesday with felony theft by shoplifting after Statesboro Police investigated complaints, said Capt. L. C. Williams. Whitney Dominique Huff, 19, Orange Street, posted a $5,000 bond after being taken to the Bulloch County Jail on felony shoplifting charges, according to jail records. Statesboro Police Det. Ken Scott and Advanced Patrol Officer Todd Olsen responded to the reported incident Feb. 8 and collected statements from employees which led to Huff's arrest, he said.
