Editor:
Many people in our nation are concerned about what is happening in our nation and throughout the world. I guess it has been that way throughout the years in times of trouble, but until recent years, I believe must people in our nation looked to God and prayed and trusted Him for whatever would happen.
Now things have changed. Most people are looking to man to save our nation. We have rejected God in every instance. We do not want Him in our schools or really in any public place. The ACLU is quick to sue over the display of The Ten Commandments or a nativity scene, and most recently some teachers who dare to pray in school.
We still continue to ask God to bless our nation. How could God possibly bless what is going on in our country? Throughout our country, on television, movies and in the lives of our movie stars, political leaders and sports' stars, every one of God's Commandments are being broken, many times without remorse, except for the remorse of getting caught. Sin is glorified and there is no shame. We continue to kill babies through abortion and allow same-sex marriage. What is even worse, many churches are morally and spiritually bankrupt.
There is much anxiety and concern about our government, but no matter how you feel about the president and the other leaders, God is ultimately the One who is in control. Psalm 103:19, "The Lord has established His throne in the heavens and His sovereignty rules over all."
God is warning us that we need to repent and turn back to Him. God knew that man would need a Savior and He planned for our salvation before the foundation of the earth through His Son, Jesus Christ. He is our hope in this world and the next. John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
This is the good news. The time to pray is now. We need to pray for our nation and its leaders. We need to ask God's forgiveness for all of our sins and for not honoring Him as we should. God is the one who made our nation great. We seem to have forgotten that.
