Georgia Chamber thanks John Barrow for vote against health care bill

Editor: The Georgia Chamber of Commerce would like to publicly thank Congressmen John Barrow and Jim Marshall for their votes against HR3590, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which was ultimately passed on Sunday, March 21. This piece of legislation has been divisive – but these two men didn’t disregard the many phone calls, letters, and e-mails from Georgia residents asking each to vote NO on HR3590. Although the legislation is expected to provide health care coverage to millions of uninsured Americans, it will do so at the expense of new taxes and fines on businesses, workers and health plans; it will place heavy subsidies and mandates on the middle class; and it will offer fewer choices and diminished access for Americans with current health care coverage.
