In recognition of Goodwill Week, Goodwill of the Coastal Empire is providing 10 job fairs open to the public throughout the region, including one in Statesboro.
The Goodwill Job Connection Center will host a job fair at 10 a.m. Thursday in the center at 24015 U.S. Highway 80 E.
Local residents can learn about Goodwill training resources and job opportunities within their community. Employers in attendance will share information about their organizations and offering employment opportunities to qualified job seekers. Various industries will be represented, including hospitality, retail, aerospace, and manufacturing. It is recommended that job seekers bring resumes and dress professionally.
“Goodwill Job Connection Centers provide resources, technology and support services designed to help job seekers secure and maintain employment,” said Brenda Pollen, the vice president of mission services for Goodwill of the Coastal Empire. “In 2013, Goodwill served 19,518 and placed 1,672 in employment throughout the region. Our recent expansion to new locations enables us to provide additional services throughout our region.”
The Statesboro Goodwill provided services to 2,314 people and placed 70 into jobs, according to statistics provided by Goodwill of the Coastal Empire.

Goodwill Week was first celebrated in May 1951 as a way to encourage local Goodwill agencies to educate their communities about their mission of helping people with disabilities help themselves. Every year during the first full week of May, Goodwill agencies across the United States and Canada celebrate the power of work through local events and promotions.
