A man charged in his son's stabbing death was denied bond Thursday.
Bulloch County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Jared Akins said bond is routinely denied at the Bulloch County Jail for "significant felonies" such as charges against James William Harvey, 45, of Longwood Drive.
Harvey was jailed Monday after his son, Eric Brennon Harvey, 27, of Lee Road in Pembroke, died at East Georgia Regional Medical Center following a domestic disturbance at the father's home.
James Harvey was charged Wednesday after an autopsy by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Coastal Regional Crime Lab, which ruled Eric Harvey's manner of death to be homicide.
The elder Harvey is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and tampering with evidence, Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said.
Alcohol was a factor in the stabbing death, he said. James Harvey was taken into custody Monday after discrepancies were found between evidence and information given to Bulloch County 911 when someone called for assistance after the incident.
Akins said it could be a "couple of months" before James Harvey faces a Superior Court judge regarding bond and to determine whether the case will be bound over to grand jury.
