Almost three years after a traffic accident in Statesboro led a family through a series of miracles, the mother of a young boy injured in the crash has written a book about the ordeal. In “Prayers from Fiji,” Ellen Murkison captures the raw emotion she and her family experienced after the accident Dec. 2, 2011, left her son Brian severely injured. The family had just left a local Christmas lights display on Old River Road when the driver of their vehicle ran a stop sign at the intersection of Old River Road North and Lakeview Road.
