Deputies investigate rash of entered vehicles

Two times in the past three nights, several vehicles have been entered in Statesboro subdivisions, according to the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office.

The entries took place between Saturday night and Sunday morning in the Hunters Pointe and Glen Oaks subdivisions. A second set occurred between Monday night and Tuesday morning in the Cambridge and Lennox Hills subdivisions, Sheriff Lynn Anderson said in a news release.

Although there was evidence of forced entry to a small number of the vehicles, Anderson said, the vast majority were unlocked.

That prompted the sheriff to ask residents to lock their vehicles, remove valuables and report any suspicious people or vehicles in their neighborhoods immediately to the sheriff's office or 911.

A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of anyone in connection with these vehicle entries. Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Jared Akins at (912) 764-1788. Anonymous tips may be sent to tips@bullochsheriff.com.
