DESCENDANTS OF William F. Bird, private Confederate States Army, along with Ogeechee Rifles Camp #941, Statesboro, and Dixie Guards Camp #1942, Metter, Sons of Confederate Veterans will conduct a memorial service and grave marker dedication at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Lower Lotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church on Old Register Road in Statesboro. A large number of Pvt. Bird's descendants, numerous pieces of artillery and uniformed reenactors are expected to participate in the ceremony.
ä VFW POST 10825 will meet Saturday at 8 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, Williams Road off of Northside Drive (Highway 80) West.
