Big rig, pickup truck collide

A tractor trailer and a pickup truck collided early Monday morning after the big rig tried to avoid the pickup, which was traveling south in the northbound lane of U.S. Highway 301 South, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The accident happened shortly after 4 a.m. when the two vehicle "clipped each other's front ends" in the northbound lanes near A.J. Riggs Road, said Sgt. 1st Class Brad Mosher, the commander of Georgia State Patrol Post 45 in Statesboro. The driver of the pickup truck was taken by EMS to East Georgia Regional Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening.
