Altered checks lead to arrest
Jamie Denise Gunn

A former convenience store worker was arrested Monday after she altered customers’ checks, police said.
Jamie Denise Gunn, 35, of Plantation Mobile Home Park, once worked at Middleground Convenience Store on Metts Road. While employed there, she “altered multiple checks written to the store,” Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said.
Management notified the sheriff’s department after discovering discrepancies, and investigators learned she had altered the amounts customers had written on the checks, he said.
“Based on interviews and other evidence, Gunn was arrested and charged with several counts of theft and forgery,” the sheriff said.
There might be other victims, but they might not have noticed irregularities in checks they may have written to Middleground Store, Anderson said.
Anyone who might be a victim of the altered checks is asked to call sheriff’s Investigator Walter Deal at (912) 764-1788.
Holli Deal Bragg may be reached at (912) 489-9414.
