Mr. and Mrs. Howard and Donna Dorton of Statesboro, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Joanna Dorton of Statesboro, to Travis Hutchinson, son of Marc Hutchinson of Savannah, Ga., and Lisa Sikes of Statesboro.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Howard and Lillian Dorton of Douglas, Ga., and the late Fred and JoAnne Baxter of Dawson, Ga. Joanna is a 2007 honor graduate of Statesboro High School and a 2011 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in early childhood education. She is currently pursuing a master's in early childhood education at GSU and is employed as a kindergarten teacher at Butler Elementary School in Chatham County.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Carl and Ruby Hutchinson of Statesboro and Dianne Buffington of Coopersburg, Penn., and the late Rod Buffington. A 2005 graduate of Ogeechee Technical College, Travis is currently employed with Georgia Power and is in the lineman development program.

The couple plans to wed on March 20, 2016, at 3 p.m. at Paul H. Johnson Farm, located on Woodrum Road.
