Mr. and Mrs. David Harrison Averitt Jr. of Statesboro, Ga., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Linsay, to Thomas Edward Rushing IV, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Edward Rushing III of Statesboro, Ga.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Elizabeth G. "Connie" Averitt of Statesboro, Ga., and the late Mr. David Harrison "Hal" Averitt, as well as Mr. and Mrs. James M. Lowe of Statesboro, Ga. Jessie is a 2006 honor graduate of Bulloch Academy and attended Georgia Southern University, where she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. She graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2009, receiving her Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She is currently employed by Blount, Burke, Wimberly and Hendricks Insurors, specializing in personal lines insurance.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Edward "Eddie" Rushing Jr. of Statesboro, Ga., as well as Mr. William L. Garner of Marietta, Ga., and the late Mrs. Irma W. Garner. Thomas is a 2006 graduate of Bulloch Academy and a 2010 graduate of Georgia Southern University, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Thomas is a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
    The wedding will be held at First United Methodist Church in Statesboro on April 23rd, 2011, at 5:30 p.m., with the reception to follow at the Belle House.
