Born in China, Statesboro STEAM Academy’s 2019 valedictorian Mazie Grace McMahon lived in Florida before her family moved to Statesboro eight years ago. The 18-year-old daughter of William E. “Todd” and Rgnda McMahon plans to attend Georgia Southern University after graduation, hoping to achieve a degree in business management/hospitality.

She works at Starbucks on campus and through her job realized she enjoys the hospitality industry, and wants to work in the resorts, hotel, and food and beverage field, she said.

Mazie has a sister, Morgan Murphy.  During her spare time, the STEAM valedictorian enjoys music, films, archery and reading. 

“There is not a book that I wouldn’t read,” she said.
