    The following are among the food service establishments inspected in February by the Bulloch County Health Department. The department scores on a 100-percentile scale. Kitchens are inspected at least every four months and are required to post their score sheets in public. The score and selected comments from health inspectors are included in each report. Larry's Giant Subs,
620 Fair Road  Score: 91
    Personal beverages noted over food prep areas; corrected on-site. Sanitizing solution not maintained clean; corrected on-site. Build-up noted on the back of the prep sink, in the sliding door channels, on display case and on some dry storage shelves. Walls in restroom must be smooth and easily cleanable. Build-up noted on the wall behind the slicer. Good job. Inspector: Misty McKanna.

Buffalo's Southwest Cafe,
120 Lanier Drive  Score: 75
    Keep hand towels at hand sink. Keep plastic food container bags stored out of standing water in cooler unit. Keep proper sanitizer solution in sanitizer buckets — shows 0 ppm. Must have discard dates on potentially-hazardous food held over 24 hours — ribs in walk-in. Label all bulk containers. Thermometer in cooler unit inaccurate — reading 70 degrees F; actual temp of cooler is less than 40 degrees F. Cannot prep foods in 3-compartment dish sink. Keep personal items stored away from food contact surfaces. Need to discard damaged plastic bowls and utensils. Clean all shelves in coolers where needed. Clean cooler lid seals in bar.     Observed a personal beverage stored over clean dishes. Replace cutting boards; not smooth and easily cleanable. Repair leak at hand-wash sink. Dry storage walls have peeling surfaces. Fantastic job. Inspector: McKanna.
Gentilly Gardens of Statesboro, 625 Gentilly Road  Score: 91
    Keep all foods covered when not in kitchen or working with. Need discard dates on leftover potentially-hazardous food. Hang mops to dry when not in use. Inspector: Jud Street.
Southern Manor Retirement Inn, 1532 Fair Road  Score: 97
    Protect coffee filters while in storage. Need to clean shelves where pots are stored. Clean behind stove and upright cooler. Inspector: Street.

    No hand/arm jewelry allowed aside from plain wedding band. Clean slicer holder. Inspector: Brad Wiggins.

    Get hand towels at all hand sinks. Cover all foods. Clean slicers. Dish machine must sanitize at 180 degrees F rinse. Clean ice machine. Ribs not being cooled properly. Do not put food on floor. Keep rags in sanitizer solution. Keep dip wells on for utensils. Keep ice scoop handle out of ice. Replace or resurface cutting boards. Discard utensils that are worn/broken. Discard food cart. Clean ice scoop holder. Clean freezer bottoms.  Repair plumbing. Dip well excess cannot run across floor to drain. Keep trash dump closed. Clean floor where needed. Wash all items in 3-compartment sink (sanitizing) until dish machine is repaired. Inspector: Wiggins.

    Get thermometers in all coolers. Replace or resurface cutting boards. Clean containers that hold utensils. Clean cooler seals. Repair plumbing. Dip well excess cannot run across floor to drain. Inspector: Wiggins.

    Clean ice machine. Clean tea nozzles. All potentially-hazardous foods must be held at 41 degrees F or lower. All items displayed or held at the four-hour time limit must be marked with discard time. Repair door to meat prep room. Seal bottom of back door. Food discarded. Do not use cooler if 41 degrees F temperature cannot be maintained. Inspector: Wiggins.
