The Bulloch Academy softball team has shown great improvement from last year. The Gators have gone from 1-19 a year ago to 12-10 this year.

Head Coach Jason Godbee attributes much of their success this year to everyone buying in and has appreciated the leadership shown by the lone senior on this year’s team, catcher Malone Justen who is currently batting .516 with 10 doubles and five home runs.

“She has led us this season and has now prepared the girls for future success,” Godbee said. “She has modeled what a leader does during practices and in games. She has been the field general we needed to help build and lead our program. Even when times were tough, she never wavered.

“I believe we play more like a team this season and we are really close this year as a team,” Justen said. “We are just having fun every day whether it’s at practice or during games.

“Sometimes it’s tough being the only senior but I have loved leading them and hopefully showing them what hard work looks like and if you just keep working you will find success.”
