Local Roundup -- Lady Jackets head for state

                DUBLIN – The Southeast Bulloch Lady Yellow Jackets defeated Vidalia 3-2 Wednesday at the Region 3-AA tournament hosted by Dublin to advance to Thursday’s region championship round.

                Singles players Victoria Herndon and McKenzie Waters each won in two sets to seal the win.

                The boys fell 5-0 to Vidalia.


       Knights advance to regional championship

William James Middle beat Effingham 7-0 April 9 at Mill Creek Park to advance to the semi finals on Tuesday when they defeated Langston Chapel.

In the Effingham game, Leon Roberson scored one goal and had two assists. Emilio Quintero, Marchall Buckhoff, Walker Paul Tedders, Wesley Budget, Alex Wagner and Tyler Proctor each scored one goal. Abel Leon and Hayden Haskins each had one assist.

Able Leon scored both goals for the Knights on Tuesday. The regional championship game will be played tonight at Mill Creek Park.

The girls lost away to South Effingham 3-2 in Effingham April 9. Both goals scored by Chelsea Wilson.  Emmalyne Sisson and Katie Wilson also had outstanding plays for the Knights.


Screven County bests Swainsboro

SWAINSBORO – Screven County (13-6, 7-0) defeated Swainsboro 6-4 Thursday clinching the 3-AA-A sub-region championship. 

Daniel Griffin pitched a complete game striking out 4 Swainsboro players, allowing 6 hits and giving up 3 earned runs.

Dalton Mills was 3-for-5 with 1 RBI. Chandler Johnson was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs and Devin Lawton was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs.

The Gamecocks travel to Jenkins County tonight.
