The Southeast Bulloch flag football team is off to a 6-2 start but have won their last three games by a combined 134-0. One of the reasons for the Jacket's success has been the play of quarterback Emma Cate Baron, who has 764 yards passing with 15 touchdowns and has run for another 209 yards and three scores.
“She’s been a great leader as we try and break in a lot of new players after graduating a lot of very successful seniors,” said coach Matt Kuykendal. “She is like having another coach on the field.”
“I think the season has been going really well,” Baron said. “We’ve put in a lot of work and it’s been great to see it pay off on the field. We have high expectations for ourselves, and we’re continuing to push each other to get better every game.
“As the quarterback and safety, I want to lead by example, communicate, and do whatever I can to help my team win. As a senior, I also want to leave a positive impact on the program. I think we’re in a good spot but we still have more to accomplish. Our goal is to keep improving and compete for another championship, especially in my senior year.”
