SAVANNAH — Take it to the hoop. Take it to the state.
That’s what the Southeast Bulloch girls did Wednesday night at the Johnson gym, and as a result the Lady Yellow Jackets are in the state playoffs for the first time in at least a dozen years as they knocked off Johnson, 40-26, in the Region 1-AAA quarterfinals.
Coach Johnny Miller’s game plan was to take the ball inside on every possession and his team stuck with it as the Jackets turned the game into a layup drill.
Leading 15-11 at the half the margin was still three points, 29-26, with 4:33 to play when the tiring Atomsmasher defense broke down. SEB finished the game on a 11-0 run and will now play Thursday night at 7 p.m. against top-seeded Beach. The championship and third-place games will be played Friday at Savannah State as the games were moved up a day in order to secure Tiger Arena.
Jasmine Roberts led the win with 18 points, and Gloria Lingle added 14, 12 coming in the second half.
