Bulloch Academy senior Zach Altany will take his love of basketball to the collegiate level when he shoots the three for Belmont Abbey College.

Altany, the 18-year son of Dr. Alan and Sharon, signed a national letter of intent recently to play basketball for the Crusaders.

Belmont Abbey is located in Belmont, North Carolina. The Catholic college has an enrollment of approximately 1600 students and competes in Conference Carolinas in NCAA Division II. Stephen Miss, a former assistant at the University of Georgia, is the head coach of the Crusaders.

Altany, a three-point specialist for the Gators, set the school’s career scoring record (1,437) during the 2010-11 season. The four-year starter helped Bulloch Academy reach the GISA Class AA Final Four in 2010, win two GISA Region 2-AA championships, appear three times in the state tournament and achieve a 75-32 record during his career. The true shooting guard helped revive the once-proud BA boys’ basketball program.
