The Statesboro Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department Mite Boys with Machine All-Star Teams traveled to Lyons recently to participate in the 54th Annual Lyons Tournament. This tournament was a fun practice tournament for the upcoming Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) District.
In the Mite Boys Red Division (Red division is for smaller recreation departments or for departments that consider their team a #2 team), the Briggs and Stratton team became champions after beating Jenkins County in the title game, 11-7. Coaches for this team are: Ronald Smith and Benji Lewis. Players include: TJ Durden, Hamp Haralson, Ike Hubbard, Aiden Lewis, Drew Mallard, Brodie Motes, Aubrey Smith, Austin Smith, Aiden Stokes, Davis Williams, Jackson Williams and Jordan Weathers.
In the Mite Boys Blue Division (Blue division is for larger recreation departments or for departments that consider their team a top team), the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro team lost to Lyons, 12-4, to take home third place. In the division, there were 11 teams from all over South Georgia. Coaches for the team are: Mitchell Cason and Gavin Colquitt. Players include: Hudson Cason, Tony Colley, Aidin Colquitt, Braylon Evans, Garrett Evans, Mathis Lanier, Dre Lawson, Turner Leggett, Will Nelson, Kamron Mikell, Cole Shuman and Logan Wallace.
The Statesboro Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department will host the state tournament for the Mite Boys with machine on July 13-16 at Mill Creek Regional Park with 13 teams from around the state.
The Statesboro Bulloch Parks and Rec Chick-fil-A Midget Girls All-Star began their District Tournament this past Friday in Swainsboro.
The 4-day tournament includes nine teams. Coaches for this team are: David James and Lisa Sherrod. Players include: Lauren Ericsson, Olivia Horton, Jordan Kirkland, Kinsley James, Addison Marsh, Abby Morgan, Jaycee Sanchez, Brayden Sellers, Jayden Sherrod, Ivy Stewart, Kelsi Williams and Anslee Woods.
