CLEMSON, S.C. - The No. 9 Clemson Tigers blasted six home runs on their way to a runaway 22-6 win over Georgia Southern during mid-week play Wednesday.
The Tigers (14-2) were relentless, hitting two homers - a three-run shot by John Nester and two-run pop by Jeff Schaus - in the first inning on the way to an 8-1 lead, and they didn't stop there.
It was 14-6 after four innings and Clemson added eight more in the bottom of the sixth.
Georgia Southern (9-9) was led at the plate once again by A.J. Wirnsberger, who hit his second home run in as many days and finished 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs. Victor Roache also drove in two runs, and Eric Phillips was 2-for-4 in the game.
The Eagles return to Southern Conference play with a three-game series at Wofford starting Friday.
