Local Roundup: Fans to send off Eagles

    Georgia Southern football fans are invited to send off the football team for their season-opener at Samford.             The teams will load the busses at 7:45 a.m. and depart at 8 a.m. Friday from the Parrish Football Center on campus.

BA blasts Brentwood
    Bulloch Academy (8-2)pounded eight hits to run ruled Brentwood 9-1 in five innings Thursday.
    Ashlee Lanier was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Mary Margaret Reeves was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Page Spence was 1-for-3 with three RBI. Taylor Collins, Marianna Peebles and Ashley Burke also had hits.
    Madelyn Vickery got the victory, facing just 20 batters. She struck out four and allowed only two hits.
    Bulloch opens Region 4-AAA play Tuesday, hosting arch-rival Trinity Christian.

Bryan tops CDS
    PEMBROKE— The Bryan County Lady Redskins (9-2, 4-1 Region 3A-A) defeated Calvary Day 3-0 Thursday at home.
    Tiffany Howard (7-3) got her sixth-straight win, striking out 11 while allowing no walks and two hits.
    Sierra Newman (2-for-3) drove in a run and Taylor Butler tripled in a run and drove in another with a sacrifice bunt.
    The Redskins play a doubleheader at Claxton Tuesday.

SEB JV opens with a win
    BROOKLET — The Southeast Bulloch junior-varsity Yellow Jackets beat Claxton JV 20-8 Thursday. Tyler Epps scored a pair of touchdowns, Keegan Carter added another and Reid Hadden kicked a pair of extra points.
    The defense was led by Colton Prosser, Dominique Murphy, Simba Fields and Eddie Cozomella.
