Tracy NeSmith

Tracy Dewayne NeSmith, 54, of Metter, Georgia, passed away on October 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, service and a life well lived.

Born in Savannah, Georgia, and raised in Nevils, Tracy was lovingly adopted and raised by his parents, Terrance and Virginia NeSmith. He was a 1990 graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Tracy dedicated much of his life to the fire service, serving 30 years as a volunteer firefighter and first responder with Bulloch County Fire Department and 16 years with the City of Statesboro Fire Department.

The friendships and brotherhood he formed throughout those years were among his greatest treasures.

Tracy was a hardworking, gifted craftsman who could build or fix just about anything. From woodworking and intricate trim work, to construction and erecting metal buildings, he took great pride in his work.

He enjoyed NASCAR, Georgia Southern football, firearms and spending time with those he loved.

Above all, Tracy had a servant’s heart. His love language was helping others, and he never hesitated to lend a hand. Whether building, repairing, moving or simply being there when someone needed him, Tracy gave generously of his time and talents.

He was known for his outgoing personality, sense of humor, tender heart and unwavering willingness to help others.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kim NeSmith; daughter, Jaclyn NeSmith; bonus son, Keigan Williams; and parents, Terrance "Terry" and Virginia "Ginny" NeSmith: nieces, Alaina McElveen and Kristin McElveen; along with numerous family members and cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Teri McElveen; and his beloved dog and best friend, Genesis, his faithful companion of 10 years.

Tracy’s life was not measured by material possessions, but by the countless lives he touched, the friendships he made and the love he gave so freely. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion and service that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

When someone needed help, Tracy was there. That was simply who he was.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Deloach Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Anderson-Newman Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.
