Laurie lived in her family home in Madeira Beach, Florida, from birth until 2024, when Hurricane Helene brought her to Statesboro, Georgia. There, she enjoyed the rest of her days surrounded by family.

Mrs. Mecko was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maura (Holcomb) Macfarlane; her husband of 47 years, Joseph M. Mecko; and sister-in-law, Judy M. Kosel.

Her sister, Jan Macfarlane-Farris, shortly followed three days later.

Laurie will be fondly remembered by her family: Chris, Heather, Connor and Eric; Jenny, John, Joseph and Glen; Vince and Stephanie; Tory, Tommy and Zophos; and special caring friends.

Mrs. Mecko will be laid to rest with her family in Mickle Memorial Cemetery, Gravenhurst, Ontario, Canada.

The arrangements have been entrusted to Wilkes Funeral Home.
