Obituary - Audrey Berry Sadler
Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory
Audrey Berry Sadler

Audrey Berry Sadler, a woman of gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to her family, passed away on October 6, 2026, at her home in Germantown, Tennessee, following a courageous journey with dementia. She was 93 years old.

Born on April 28, 1933, in Statesboro, Georgia, Audrey lived a life marked by grace, kindness and a deep love for the people and pursuits that brought her joy. Shortly after graduating from Statesboro High School, Audrey moved to Savannah, where she became a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Studio, sharing her passion for music and dance with others. While teaching at Aurthur Murray, she was fortunate enough to be invited to participate in a dance exhibition in Havana, Cuba, in the mid-1950s.

It was during her time as a dance instructor that she met a young Air Force serviceman who came into the studio for dance lessons. His aunt had told him if he wanted to meet a nice girl, he needed to learn how to dance. On January 12, 1958, the dance lessons turned into a marriage to the love of her life, Charlie, beginning a partnership that would anchor her for decades and bless her with a cherished family. They would continue to dance throughout their 53 years of marriage.

Despite her petite stature, Audrey was a very athletic person. While she was certainly an accomplished dancer, she was a darn good tennis player and golfer. In the last 20-plus years of her life, she was an avid golfer, playing in a local women's league, with good friends and in numerous charity events. She took great pleasure in the game and generously gave back to her community through it, sponsoring a charity golf tournament every year at Marsh Creek Country Club to benefit Flagler Hospital in Saint Augustine, Florida. For many years she also volunteered her time at that same hospital, offering comfort and care to others with the same gentle nature that defined her.

Following the death of her husband, Charlie, Audrey began to embark on journeys of her own. She traveled to Ireland, Italy, France, Canada and several locations across the U.S. She even went on a hot air balloon ride in her mid-80s. She would try just about anything at least once. Of all her journeys, her trip to the Holy Land remained her favorite, a pilgrimage that reflected the faith she carried quietly throughout her life.

At home, she was an avid reader who delighted in good books, beautiful music and the simple pleasures of time spent with loved ones. Those who knew Audrey remember her for her kind and tender heart. She never spoke an unkind word toward anyone, and she devoted her life wholly to her family, who were the center of her world.

Audrey is survived by her two sons, Stephen Juneau Sadler and his wife, Leigh Ann, and Michael Jordan Sadler and his wife, Cindy; and her sister, Delina Brown of Statesboro. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Michael Jordan Sadler Jr. and his wife, Claire; Zachary Taylor Sadler and his wife, Olivia; William Yeager Sadler and his wife, Mary; and Peyton Sadler Dallesandro and her husband, Michael. She also leaves behind four beloved great-granddaughters, Addison Grace Sadler, Melrose Olivia Sadler, Penelope Reynolds Sadler and Celia Constance Sadler.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Charles Juneau Sadler Jr.; her father, Harvey Eugene Berry; her mother, Pearl Chester Berry; and her brother, Harvey Berry.

Audrey's faith was a steady companion throughout her life, and her family finds comfort in the hope and promise it offered her. Now at peace, she rests in the arms of her Savior, reunited with those who went before her.

Visitation and the funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Friendship Baptist Church in Statesboro, Georgia. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with the service to follow at 11 a.m.

The family gives thanks for the full and gracious life Audrey lived and for the love, kindness and gentle spirit she shared with all who were fortunate to know her. Her memory will remain a blessing to her family and friends for years to come.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org), Memphis Baptist Memorial Hospice or your favorite charity would be much appreciated by the family.
