Zoning board denies recommendation for industrial park
County commission to hear matter at Aug. 2 public hearing
Bulloch County Seal W

The Bulloch County Planning and Zoning Commission voted Thursday to deny a recommendation to the Bulloch County Board of Commissioners regarding a proposed industrial park on Highway 67 near Interstate 16.

Several residents who own property near the 4,682-acre parcel spoke before a standing-room-only crowd, protesting the proposal by GA I-16 Bulloch LLC and its owner, Dan Bradley Jr., citing environmental as well as aesthetic reasons why they do not want the property developed as proposed.

Bradley, through Thomas and Hutton Engineering Co., seeks rezoning from AG-5 to LI (Light Industrial).

Bradley asked the Planning and Zoning Commission to defer its vote on whether it would make a recommendation to commissioners regarding the project, but a motion and a second to deny the request met with a unanimous vote.

Commissioners are expected to review the issue during a public hearing Aug. 2, and are expected to vote on the request.
