Police are seeking a suspect in a shooting at a local bar Saturday that left two with injuries.

The suspect, Frank Junior Emeka, of Conyers, is considered “armed and dangerous” and police warn the public to not approach him if spotted, but call authorities, said Statesboro Police Community Information Specialist Madison Warren.

Police responded just after midnight Saturday morning to Midtown Bar and Grill, where there were reports of a fight with shots fired.

“Upon arrival, officers encountered a large, chaotic crowd in the parking lot of the business,” Warren said. “Two victims with apparent gunshot wounds were located in the crowd and transported by EMS to East Georgia Regional Medical Center for treatment. Neither victims’ injuries were life threatening and both are in stable condition at this time.”

The victims were released from the hospital, according to reports Monday.

Through investigation, detectives of the Statesboro Police Department identified a Conyers man, Frank Junior Emeka, 22, as the primary suspect regarding the shots fired.

Another man, Kelly Butler, 22, was arrested on the scene as well, she said. Butler, of Riverdale, is charged with obstruction for interference in police investigations.

Detectives at the scene identified Emeka as the shooting suspect, and warrants were issued for his arrest.

“We encourage Emeka to turn himself in to the nearest law enforcement agency immediately,” Warren said.

Officers, deputies and troopers from Georgia Southern University police, Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia State Patrol Post 45 also responded to the scene to assist with crowd control while Statesboro police detectives investigated, she said.

Police urge the public to come forward if they think they see Emeka.

“If you have any information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts, please contact us immediately,” Warren said. “If you believe you have seen the suspect out in public, please contact us or the nearest law enforcement agency or call 911 immediately. Do not try to make contact with this subject yourself, he is considered armed and dangerous.”
