In this Herald file photo from 2007, Thomas Childs, then 7, follows his duck around the Lazy River during the Duck for Diabetes event at Splash in the Boro. This year's event is set for Saturday, and the race begins at 9:45 a.m.
Two popular fund raising events for diabetes research will be combined Saturday as the American Diabetes Association’s Duck For Diabetes is held in conjunction with the “Step Out: Walk for Diabetes” event. Both will be held at Mill Creek Park Saturday, Aug. 28, with the Duck for Diabetes race beginning at 9:45 a.m., and registration for the walk beginning at 8:45 a.m., said Broni Gainous, event co-chairperson. After registering for the walk at the large pavilion at Mill Creek Park, participants can go to Splash in the Boro, where they can purchase rubber ducks for $10 each, or a “six-quack” of ducks for $50.
