A work crew toppled a tree Monday that accidentally resulted in power outages near Statesboro and Brooklet, said Georgia Power Company spokesperson Allison Gregory.

The outages, which reportedly occurred around 4 p.m., affected about 211 customers, she said.

Residents in the Westbrooke neighborhood and areas east of Statesboro were expected to possibly be without power until restoration around 7:45 p.m. Monday, according to the Georgia Power online outage map. However, some customers reported restored power shortly after 5:30 p.m.
