The Statesboro Police Department will participate in No-Shave November and raise money for Alzheimer's research.

Per department policy, officers are permitted to grow a groomed mustache, but the rest of the face must be clean-shaven. Public Safety Director Wendell Turner has temporarily suspended the facial-hair grooming requirement for all sworn personnel and is allowing officers to grow beards, according to a police department news release.

beards must be neatly groomed and trimmed at the jawline. Several officers are expected to participate.

No-Shave November is voluntary for all SPD officers, and they must make a $25 donation to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America to participate.
