Second arrest made in Park Place killing

Police arrested a second man charged with murder in the Nov. 4 deadly shooting at Park Place Apartments.

Forrest Kibbler, 25, was killed during the incident at 9:30 p.m. Friday. Statesboro police arrested a second Guyton man, Ashton Marquise King, 19, Wednesday, charging him with murder, said Statesboro Police Chief Deputy Rob Bryan.

Jamontea Marquil Pitts, 24, of Guyton, was arrested Nov. 8, and is also facing murder charges.

“King was arrested in Effingham County after a joint investigative effort by the Statesboro Police Department, Effingham County Sheriff’s Office and Guyton Police Department,” he said.

 Pitts was arrested in Chatham County after teamwork between Statesboro police, the Effingham County Sheriff's Office, the Chatham County Counter Narcotics Team, the Savannah Metro Police Department, the Savannah Area Regional Intelligence Center, and the Guyton Police Department, Bryan said.
"The Statesboro Police Department would like to thank all of the agencies that assisted in this investigation," he said.
 King and Pitt remain in the Bulloch County Jail without bond.
 The case is still under investigation, Bryan said.
