A man police said sexually assaulted a woman at Eagle Villas is behind bars without bond.
Ebril Vilareal, 30, Eagle Walk, also known as Ebert Gomez Gomez, is charged with rape, burglary and providing false identification, said GSU spokesman Paul Floeckher.
According to reports, a female Georgia Southern University student said she was sexually assaulted at Eagle Village around 2 a.m.  Friday. After investigation,  Ebril Vilareal was arrested later in the day, he said.
The case remains under investigation by Georgia Southern University Police, he said.
Floeckher reminded students to call for help whenever they see anything or anybody suspicious.
“We encourage students to call University Police (478-5234) anytime they see any suspicious persons or activities,” he said. “We also want them to remember the following safety tips.”
Floeckher suggested students “use the campus escort service;  use the emergency blue lights on campus, if needed;  do not prop exterior doors to residence halls;  do not allow unknown people into residence halls and lock residence hall room doors.”
Vilareal apparently used the fictitious alias “Ebert Gomez Gomez” when arrested, as he was listed under that name at the Bulloch County Jail Tuesday. University Police spokesmen affirmed Vilareal is the suspect’s true name.
