Georgia Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that a traffic light at the intersection on US Highway 80 at Akins Pond Road/Colfax Road, just north of William James Middle School in Bulloch County, would go live on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
According to a release from the DOT, in preparation for the activations, crews will install the traffic signals and restripe the intersection. Message boards will be put in place this week near the intersection to alert motorists of this new traffic signal location and activation date. Local law enforcement will handle traffic control during activation to enhance safety.
While not expected to be in service for the Wednesday morning commute, the signal should be fully functional by early afternoon, weather permitting, the release stated.
“Motorists are reminded to pay special attention to traffic control devices, signs and posted speed limits as drivers become acclimated to the new signal.”
