Bulloch County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Tuesday on arson charges after he reportedly set fire to a couch.

Daniel Franklin Peacock, of Ash Branch Church Road in Pembroke, became “mad with his mother and family” and went to a singlewide mobile home owned by his mother on Mike Brannen Road, said Bulloch County Sheriff’s Capt. Todd Hutchens.

Once there, Peacock, 24, “set a couch on fire and went outside to watch (the home) burn,” he said.

Bulloch County Sheriff’s Deputy Rhett Kelley respond to the scene of the structure fire, and after a brief investigation, arrested Peacock on charges of 1st degree arson, sheriff’s incident reports said.

No one was injured in the fire, which caused “moderate damage,” according to Hutchens.

Peacock was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where he is being held without bond as he awaits further court appearances, he said.
