A Harwood Street man is being held without bond regarding accusations that he sexually assaulted a teenage girl who was visiting another teen in his home in August.
Friday, Sept. 3, Statesboro Police officers arrested Phelix Theopis Jackson, 25, Harden Road, charging him with sexual battery and aggravated sexual battery, said Capt. Scott P. Brunson.
The teenage girl told police Jackson fondled her inappropriately, filing the complaint almost a month after the incident
The 16-year-old victim visited Jackson’s home Aug. 7, to spend the night with another juvenile female who lived in the same home as Jackson, he said.
The victim was asleep when she awoke around 2:30 a.m. to find Jackson fondling her genitals, he said.
Brunson said the teen reported the incident Sept. 1, and did not give reasons for the delay in her filing the report.
After a brief investigation by the Statesboro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, officers arrested Jackson and took him to the Bulloch County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond, according to jail records.
