Local DAR chapter Constitution Week luncheon Thursday

In honor of Constitution week, which is September 17-24, the Archibald Bulloch Chapter, NSDAR, will host a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. today at Uncle Shug’s on Main, featuring guest speaker Presiding John J. Ellington from Soperton, Treutlen County, Ga. 

Judge Ellington was sworn in as the 66th Judge of the Georgia Court of Appeals by Governor Roy Barnes on July 12, 1999.  He was elected statewide to a full six-year term in 2000 and re-elected in 2006 and 2012. 

Judge Ellington has received many prestigious awards and recognitions, and he has served in many capacities in business, professional, civic, and religious organizations.  He is a well-known public speaker in Georgia.  In recent history, under his leadership Judge Ellington came to Statesboro, to give a demonstration of an appellate court proceedings, at the Averitt Center, for school children and adults. This event was coordinated by the Bulloch County Bar Association.
